La clasificación cluster de orígenes en un emplazamiento del noreste de la península Ibérica indicó que durante el período invernal prolongado (de diciembre a marzo, DEFM), las rápidas corrientes de aire del Atlántico corresponden al índice WeMO (WeMOi) positivo, mientras que el WeMOi negativo está asociado a las circulaciones mediterráneas. La cantidad de precipitación invernal estaba inversamente relacionada con el WeMOi invernal.
