Resumen

Este estudio utiliza el “Weather Research and Forecasting model” (WRF) y el sistema de asimilación tridimensional de datos variacionales (WRF 3DVAR), en arranques fríos y calientes, con el objetivo de encontrar un método apropiado de predicción inmediata que habría mejorado el pronóstico de la precipitación máxima asociada al sistema convectivo de mesoescala que se produjo en Cataluña (NE de España) el 21 de marzo de 2012 a las 20 UTC.

Resumen

El modelo meteorológico WRF-ARW (Weather Research and Forecasting - Advanced Research WRF) es un modelo de nueva generación que cuenta con una creciente comunidad de usuarios alrededor del mundo. En el marco de un proyecto para estudiar la viabilidad de implementarlo operativamente en el Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya, se ha realizado una verificación de los pronósticos producidos por el modelo en varios casos de precipitación observada sobre Cataluña.
